Humpback Whales in Honolulu Harbor this Morning!!

I learned about the whales from Dean on his Courts Dawn Patrol blog.



A 100-yard security zone has been established at Honolulu Harbor after humpback whales were discovered Thursday morning. Video courtesy of Christopher Kojima, uploaded to YouTube by HawaiiNewsNow.

I just read about them on the Star Advertiser site. I wonder what made them swim into the harbor...they're beautiful mammals.

OMG !! You DO know I have this like huge thing about humpback whales...remember my grab bag "switch" last year !! Hooooo...this brought tears to my eyes...I hope they got out okay..

I knooooow Les!! When me and Wendell were watching the footage on the news, there were a lot a people there. I said, "Hey look at all the people! How come nobody called me?"

That's awesome. We've had them swim up into the Sacramento Delta from the Pacific ocean. There was one that made it up to our harbor area...it stayed for several days and it was slowly but surely helped back to the ocean...pretty exciting when they get so close to be able to see them up close.

Probably Orcas...they are migrating south this time of year.
